HANK was the field cryptonym for Zacapa (Guatemalan base), during Operation PBSUCCESS. Foreign Relations of the United States (FRUS), 1952-1954: Guatemala, stated that HANK was Zacapa.

06/01/54: Cable from LINCOLN to Director: Slugline RYBAT PBSUCCESS: REF: LINC 3328 (IN 12824): FOR CADICK (William Robertson): ..."6. Pivall (probably David Morales) reported 4 instructors (organizers) departed 29 May for ADAM (Guatemala City) and those for BOND (Puerto Barrios) HANK and IKE (San Jose) would depart 31 May. Para 5 (REDACTION) 408 (IN 12943) indicated organizers being retained (REDACTION) request you clarify whether those being retained include all or only BOND HANK and IKE. Upon clarification this and situation in ADAM will attempt obtain contacts for organizers and advise you..."

06/03/54: Cable from Withheld to Director: Slugline RYBAT PBSUCCESS: FROM PIVALL (probably David Morales): "1. An advance party of two, consisting of an officer and instructor, departing for Ruinas de Copan (DF-0524) 3 June. 2. Twenty-five men presently at Copan waiting for instructions and orders. 3. Instructor will remain. Officer will return with all details. 4. Presently contemplated to utilize element to attack HANK from the direction Sansur D-day."

06/20/54: Cable from LINCOLN to Director: Slugline RYBAT PBSUCCESS: COMMAND MSG FOR CADICK (William Robertson): "1. General ultimatum all enemy military garrisons considered premature and counter-productive at this time. Specific ultimatum to HANK on 20 June accompanied with ground and air assault as originally requested (REDACTION) is approved and urged as test case and example of SYNCARP (the "Junta", Castillo Armas' political organization headed by Cordova Cerna) military capabilities...2. Ultimatum to HANK should provide every opportunity for garrison to honorably join friendly cause. Therefore, if necessary prepare special leaflets and radio script, since your (REDACTION) considered psychologically incorrect and would only induce an Alamo reaction...5. Although LINC recognizes your position viz Calligeris (Carlos Castillo Armas) you are urged to present above operation in strongest terms as success at HANK is believed vital at this moment and procedure outlined has many important considerations of later value. Cable Secretariat Comment: Mr. Esterline, WH, notified of receipt of this message at 0430 20 June 54."

06/27/54: Cable from Director to Senior Rep. LINCOLN (Orig: J. Esterline, PBS): Slugline RYBAT/PBSUCCESS/SAHARA-3: "1. On 25 June ADAM (Guatemala City) sent two mobile militia companies to HANK. 2. On 26 June source advised that individuals were being organized for purpose protecting railroad. 3. On night of 26 June GOSS (Coban, Guatemala) ordered five militia companies march to HANK. One company was from GOSS, one from San Cristobal, three from Salama. 4. On 26 June ADAM ordered HANK not to send the people to ADAM but to organize, equip, and instruct them in HANK. 5. At midnight 26 June FRANK (Jutiapa, Guatemala) informed HANK that a company of reservists had been sent to Ipala." - - - SAHARA-3 was described as a reliable source in a 06/17/54 cable:
