06/20/54: Cable from LINCOLN to Director: Slugline RYBAT PBSUCCESS: DAILY OP SITREP NBR 06: "1. A. Strength report: BOND (Puerto Barrios) 187, JOHNNY (note: also JACK - Florida, Honduras) 96, HANK (Zacapa, Guatemalan Base) 180, TOMMY 15, FRANK 52 (inoperative), total 628...6. FRANK troops at last report not yet returned to Cadick (William Robertson) control, if DTFROGS (El Salvador) expells to Nueva Occtapeque will arm and immediately launch to FRANK...Jobos (RO 27) apprehended with FRANK troops in DTFROGS and relieved of gear..."


06/20/54: Cable from Withheld to Director: Slugline RYBAT PBSUCCESS: FROM CADICK (William Robertson): "1. Length time transmission field-base-FCP-base-SOMERSET makes field situation obsolete by time we able support. May move FCP less one American and one R.O. to (REDACTION) soon as Calligeris (Carlos Castillo Armas) launched. SECANT (Major Enrique Trinidad Oliva) and/or SEMANTIC (probably Domingo Goicolea Villacorta) probably accompany. SALAL will need signal plan to prevent break in commo. 2. Situation: BOND (Puerto Barrios) to contact. HANK (Zacapa - Guatemalan base) Chalon below Gualan 1800 June 19. Needs ammo resupply attempt being made. JOHNNY (note: also JACK - Florida, Honduras) apparently moving through Jocotan with ACP at 0700 June 20. FRANK troops expelled DTFROGS (El Salvador) to N Ocotepeque joined DANNY. Will break away at CF 5101 for FRANK unless FRANK inner org and reported FRANK defection possibility settles that situation. No report on planned drop DANNY reported in position attack Esquipulas June 19. No report to day. 3. Active air attack would be a clincher to army right now. 4. Calligeris making aerial recon via Contrerras. No further in than Esquipulas. Air cover requested. (REDACTION) flying 2 men to Copan Ruinas. Then (REDACTION) carrying situation briefing to (REDACTION). *Cable Secretariat Comment: A copy of this message delivered to Mr. Wisner's office at 2015 20 June 54."


06/24/54: Cable from SHERWOOD to Director: Slugline RYBAT PBSUCCESS: "Coordinated attack on Chiquimula 0830 June 24. BOND (Puerto Barrios) commander and troops may be moving to area. Will watch by air. Shock troops Puerto Barrios in contact, garbled. Asking for supply. FRANK, JOHNNY (note: also JACK - Florida, Honduras), DANNY, ACP engaged by strong enemy at Chiquimula. TOMMY: NR. HANK: Last contact at Gualan area with orders attack Zacapa. Estimate of situation: To be forwarded on debriefing of pilots."


06/27/54: Cable from Guatemala City to Director: Slugline PBSUCCESS RYBAT INTEL: "1. (REDACTION) advises that Colonel Donis Kestler took refuge this morning in DTFROGS (El Salvador) Embassy. 2. Kestler stated govt cause lost, communications with troops in field cut and no word since 0700 morning 27 June, troops proceeding from FRANK to Ipala and Chiquemula were straffed to extent these units no longer exist as fighting force and casualties estimated by army high command at 1000 men. These units were regarded as cream of WSBURNT (Guatemala) fighting forces. 3. When STANDEL (Jacobo Arbenz Guzman) was informed of this situation, he stated that army is 'una mierda' and he intends defend capital and defeat Calligeris (Carlos Castillo Armas) with militia. Army convinced this impossible since militia untrained and no match for Calligeris forces. Kestler stated Calligeris mortar fire devastating and WSBURNT forces deserting whenever possible..."
