11/7/62 cable from Mexico City to Director: "On 16 Mar 62, while at airport (in Havana), LITAMIL-9 was introduced to Manuel Fernando Avila Aguirre, Mexican and his wife, Omayda Valdez Camejo, Cuban by Agustin Aldama Acosta." Marginalia over the name of Manuel Fernando Avila Aguirre are the words "AMSEVER-3". (at page 75): LITAMIL-9 was introduced to AMSEVER-3 by LIOOZE-1. (at page 72): LIOOZE-1 told LITAMIL-9 that AMSEVER-3 was an American agent. This also documents that Aldama was LIOOZE-1. (at page 77): Response From Director to Mexico City: "In view ref info re Cuban G-2 previous knowledge AMSEVER-3 agent status believe surveillance his activities and pick-up for interrogation by G-2 probable."
104-10103-10075: PROGRESS REPORT ON DEFECTION AND RECRUITMENT ACTIVITY IN LATIN AMERICA
The cover sheet for this report is sent July 1962, from Mexico City chief of station Win Scott to Bill Harvey at Task Force W. This progress report is a significant document, written during or about 1962. LIOOZE-1 is described as "not ideal from the standpoint of control". "LIOOZE-1 returned to Cuba in 1961, and although arrangements were made for him to report by SW, the channel has never been activated at his end, in spite of the fact that AMSEVER-3 was sent into Cuba as a legal traveler to ascertain why not. Apparently LIOOZE-1 prefers not to run any risks inside of Cuba itself."
