Humberto Cancio Gonzalez was a former commander in Batista's navy, and was involved in Pedro Diaz Lanz's Cuban Constitutional Crusade (CCC) organization and the Unidad de las Fuerzas Armadas de Cuba (UFA) (United Armed Forces of Cuba) in 1960.

He had a letter from Irving Davidson, who he said he wasn't impressed with. - - - On 3/14/60, Pedro Luis Diaz Lanz, 120 S.W. 71st Avenue. Miami, Florida. former Commander of the Cuban Air Force, advised that Humberto Cancio Gonzalez (105-81984) took an active part in the Cuban Constitutional Crusade (CCC) and recently had attended a meeting of that organization in the home of Frank Fiorini (address not given). At this meeting one Dr. Alonso Avila, a former representative in the Cuban Congress during the regime of ex-President Fulgencio Batista, gave a talk on the evils of communism which had come into existence in the regime of Fidel Castro. This reference described the CCC as an organization Diaz founded at Miami for the purpose of furthering the movement to remove Fidel Castro from power in Cuba and to re-establish a constitutional government there. Concerns debriefing of CASAILOR-25 on 24 and 25 Oct 63. He reported that Faustino Perez, born ca. 1923, commander in Castro's army in Havana Hqs., Granma veteran and former minister in Castro's Government, told C-25 in August 1963 that Castro must be killed and all resistance groups organized. C-25 described Perez as an opportunist who would need promise of advantage in return for help."
