Discussion:
In a dispatch from Chief of Base (COB), JMWAVE, in July, 1961, AMOT-87 reported on the JMATE (the Bay of Pigs project, as well as Cuban operations overall) relations between AMDIP-1 (Tony Varona) and Major Robert Van Horn, USAF.

A dispatch in May of 1962 from the Chief of Station (COS), JMWAVE, stated that "as Headquarters is aware, in spite of the cryptonym, AMOT-87 is not a member of the AMOT (note: network of Cubans trained by David Morales during 1960-61 to be a new Cuban intelligence service once Castro had been ousted) complex, nor does she know the AMOTS or they her." This dispatch also noted that AMOT-87 was given a document in Spanish provided by UR member AMBLEAK-1 (Fernando Fernandez Cavada y Paris) to translate. Is her matronym correct - I had

5/31/61, memo from Chief of Base to Chief, WH: AMOT-87 provides a great deal of information about the Cuban exiles' air force, known as the FAL with 149 members. In the aftermath of the Bay of Pigs, the FAL made it clear it would not longer accept Manuel Villafana as their commander.

07/07/61: Dispatch from Chief of Base, JMWAVE to Chief, WHD: Subject: JMATE Relations between AMDIP-1 and Major Robert Van Horn, USAF: "1. On 23 June 1961 AMOT-87 reported the following information about relations between AMDIP-1 (Tony Varona) and Major Robert E. Van Horn, USAF, Assistant Air Attaché to Cuba assigned to the Miami area...6. Major Van Horn left Miami for Washington on 11 June, and it is understood by AMOT-87 that by Wednesday, or Thursday, 14 June, at the latest, Major Van Horn had already appeared before all the persons who were interested in talking to him. However, he was asked to remain in Washington and make himself available for consultations on the Cuban problem for a few more days.
