1/13/61 dispatch from Stanley R. Zamka (David Morales) to Chief, WHD: "AMOT-2 reported that the...MRP had established a military training camp on a farm which is located at Bauer Drive, Homestead, Florida, and about four blocks from a farm owned by (probable typo) Nato Vasquez."
5/4/61 memo recommended taking "appropriate action" to obtain court order to seal files...this will serve to protect against future visits by "former JMHARP detainees to AMOT bldg and protect AMBUD-1 interests". Report of "eviction of AMBUD-1 & AMDIP-1 henchmen" from bldg and suggested "AMOT files" be protected.
5/11/61 cable from Stanley Zamka/David Morales, Chief of Base, JMWAVE to Chief, WHD, on AMOT-2's report: "(AMBUD-1/Miro Cardona) said that after the events of the week of 17 April (Note: the Bay of Pigs)...(AMDIP-1/Tony Varona requested that AMOT-2 be replaced because) I had not told AMBUD/CRC the day, hour and place of landing of the Army of Liberation, and therefore AMBUD should withdraw its confidence in me."

5/19/61 memo by R.W. Herbert for Chief, WH J. C. King to Director, Central Intelligence: "(Manuel Ray said) that his own people, the MRP, were afraid that if the invasion was successful, they, too, would be executed by the invading forces or the succeeding government...he and his people had learned about 'Operation Forty' as a 'mopping-up' operation, which was to have eliminated his followers in Cuba. He said that 'Operation Forty' was composed of followers of former President Fulgencio Batista who were to follow behind the invading troops and 'purge' the captured cities and towns. He said that the operation was planned by SANJENIS and GUTIERREZ, and that one of the members was CALVINOS (fnu), a 'war criminal' who was captured in the invasion...the subject said that it was his representatives, members of the MRP, who were responsible for successful sabotage in Cuba, and said that they destroyed El Encanto, the Habana department store, and the Habana aqueduct."

5/24/61 Memorandum to the Director from Stanley Grogar, Assistant to the Director: "Sam Halper (of Time magazine) alleged that Captain Luis Sanjenis was fired from his job as director of intelligence for the Revolutionary Council by Tony Varona and replaced by Capt. Luis Despaigne in March of this year. After this, thugs of Sanjenis raided the office, extracted the files and stole a considerable amount of money (several hundred dollars) that had been designated for deposit for utility companies supplying the Council's electricity, telephone, etc. Then Despaigne went to 'Jimmy', a CIA agent who had been supplying aid to the Council...Operation 40 was, according to Mr. Halper, an organization being trained by CIA to perform police functions in Cuba after Castro's fall." Also see 104-10236-10324, a 3/20/63 memo by Juan Paula/AMTIKI-1 who relates to Charles Banks how he got the files back from Capt. Ernesto Despaigne, that they will be returned to Sanjenis/AMOT-2, and that these files had been the subject of "bitter discussions and controversies". Note at bottom: "Check ILLEGIBLE Tony S." "Charles Banks" could be an alias for Tony Sforza, but more likely for "Carlos Blanco"/AMOT-2/Jose Joaquin Sanjenis.

WAVE believes this probe on part of AMDIP-1 and AMJAG to ascertain extent of present (CIA) involvement. Re allegation 'Operation Forty' (AMFAST) designed eliminate AMBUD organization this story preposterous...AMOT-2/Jose Sanjenis is most discreet and WAVE had never received info, except that emanating from AMDIP-1/Miro Cardona and AMJAG/Justo Carrillo that AMOT-2 brags about KUBARK/CIA support. WAVE believes this probe on part of AMDIP-1 and AMJAG to ascertain extent of present KUBARK involvement. 12/30/61 memo from Carlos Blanco to Felix. Marginalia identifies "Carlos" as AMOT-2. Felix is probably his second-in-command Felix Gutierrez/AMOT-31. "Since a few days ago, Mr. Jose Alvarez Diaz And Mr. Federico Fernandez Casas have been visiting the different members of the Economic Corporations with the objective of obtaining the support of these economic corporations for Dr. Miro Cardona and the Council...The Economic Corporations...is the organism representing the live classes of Cuba, and which is presided by Mr. Gregorio ESCAGEDO and its secretary being Mr. Tulio DIAZ Ribera...Escagedo and...Rodriguez met...it seemed the thesis maintained by Escabedo and Rodriguez...consisted of not supporting the Council and Mr. Cardona was going to win... (Fernandez and Diaz)...used all kinds of arguments such as the following...(Diaz said)...Miro had a handwritten letter (written personally) from the President of the United States, Mr. KENNEDY, which said, among other things, 'You were, are, and will be, the representative of the Cuban People; and you will be the President of Cuba after the overthrow of Castro.'... (Fernandez said) that the Council needed the support of all the Cuban Economic Corporations in order to feel strong and supported to demand in Washington the cessation of CIA interference in the Cuban case. That Dr. Miro, as a patriot, had asked for this support from us in order to avoid the criminal infiltrations of Cubans that were being conducted by the CIA in Cuba...In spite of all these arguments of coercion and deceit, the result of the voting of giving or not giving support to the Council was a tie (7 x 7), and a new meeting was scheduled for Thursday, 4 January 1962."
