Hernandez (fnu), used as informant in the Federation of University Students (FEU) when he was active member in 10/58; attended Havana Medical School; knew Frank Belsito by true name. AMBARK-1 was born on 19 Feb, 1933, in Havana.

Ernesto Guevara has moved westward. His exact location not known but 165 men thought to be under his command are camped near Matanzas in west Las Villas. Guevara immediate objective believed to be to cut off central highway traffic west of Santa Clara. FC: AMBARK-2 confirms this rebel strategy, says may be planning try cut highway at Santo Domingo. SC: Heavy trucks cannot travel east of Santa Clara. Backroads can be used by autos and light trucks...4. Small FEU force active near Coliseo in Matanzas. Arms shipment seized in Cayo Hueso, Fla week 7 Dec was purchased by FEU for use in HAVA..."

While reviewing SAS cards on SUBJ's ref, have found following refs....Para 2 (17): Hernandez formerly AMBARK-1. Born 19 Feb 33 HAVA and was used as informant on the FEU since he was active Member in October 1958. Attended HAVA Univ medical school prior to its closing. Knows IDEN 1 & 2 by true name. Was granted OA on 20 February 1959." - - - Page 3: "IDEN 1: Frank Belsito. 2. Blair A. Moffatt.

07/10/64, Cable from Paris to Director: Slugline RYBAT TYPIC YOBITE AMLASH UNSNAFU: "1. UNSNAFU-9 reports that one Tony Hernandez of FEU arrived PARI approx 6 July from GNVA. Hernandez carried card of introduction from AMLASH-1 to UNSNAFU-9 asking that latter host Hernandez while he PARI. 2. Hernandez departed PARI for MADR, HAVA on 6 July. After departure UNSNAFU-9 learned that Hernandez had sought deliver letter from AMLASH-1 to UNSNAFU-13 in maiden name. UNSNAFU-9 states apparently members of Cuban Embassy thru whom Hernandez attempted locate UNSNAFU-13 to deliver letter either honestly did not know maiden name or deliberately misled Hernandez."
