Cryptonym: AEBARMAN
Definition:
Soviet officer Yuri Ivonovich Nosenko, who defected in Feb 1964 with information about Oswald.
Status:
Documented
Discussion:
The story of Yuri Nosenko's defection a few months after Kennedy's assassination, the Warren Commission's dilemna regarding his "bona fides", and his subsequent imprisonment in solitary confinement, by the CIA, is summarized in the HSCA final report (see sources). It is elaborated in many other essays, documents, and other resources on this website.
Nosenko apparently was assigned three separate crypts at different times: AEBARMAN, AEFOXTROT, and AEDONOR. There is also a fourth crypt - SAMMY.
