New Book: ''The Last Campaign''

October 28, 2008: The Last Campaign: Robert F. Kennedy and 82 Days That Inspired America, by Thurston Clarke, retraces RFK's fateful run for the Presidency in 1968. The book recounts the journey of John F. Kennedy's "ruthless" brother into someone who became the voice for the poor and dispossessed in America, during a campaign which saw the murder of Martin Luther King Jr. and ended with Robert Kennedy's own death in Los Angeles.

New Book: ''Some of It Was Fun''

October 17, 2008: Former Attorney General Nicholas Katzenbach has written a memoir entitled Some of It Was Fun: Working with RFK and LBJ. The book has only slight mention of the events of Dallas or the famous Katzenbach Memo, described in the book as a "badly written memo" rather than a call to cover-up. Katzenbach does confirm that it was he and Archibald Cox who unsuccessfully tried to persuade Earl Warren to head the Commission, not the "Bobby and them" mentioned by LBJ in a phone call with Richard Russell. Katzenbach also writes that Robert Kennedy was against Johnson being sworn in aboard Air Force I in Texas, and describes in his book some of the animosity between these two dominant political figures of the post-JFK era.
