New Nixon Tapes and Files Released
June 23, 2009: The Nixon Presidential Library has released approximately 154 additional hours of White House tape recordings, recorded between January and February, 1973. Additionally, nearly 10.5 cubic feet of previously classified documents are now available.
Bernard Barker Dies at 92
June 9, 2009: According to BBC News, Watergate burglar Bernard Barker died in Miami after years of suffering cancer and heart disease. Though mostly known for his role in the 1972 Watergate break-in, Barker had a long career in intelligence, most notably for his lead role in the failed 1961 Bay of Pigs invasion. He was 92.
Charges Against Cyril Wecht Dismissed
June 3, 2009: According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, all charges against Dr. Cyril Wecht have been dropped. Prosecutor Mary Beth Buchanan cited Judge Sean J. McLaughlin's recent ruling that search warrants used to seize evidence were too general and subsequent dismissal of evidence obtained through those warrants as the reason for the decision to end her prosecution of Dr. Wecht.
